Daily Diet: What I Eat in a Day

Daily diet, what I eat in a day, maintaining weight loss, reverse dieting, intuitive eating.png

Looking to Maintain

After some weird weeks and a significant decrease in my running mileage, I was worried I might gain weight this month (maintaining a 30-pound weight loss is still relatively new territory for me). I also have been careful not to restrict myself too much, as I’ve been reading about Reverse Dieting and making sure my metabolism is running strong.

Anyway, this Daily Diet reflects a typical workday of eating real foods and enjoying every bite. Also: I have maintained this month and hope to get back to running lots of miles consistently soon.

Run Rest Eat Repeat.jpg

LOTS OF REST

Last week was a doozy. It took a weird toll on me, a toll I’m not entirely sure I know the full details of. On Saturday I woke up feeling either like I was getting sick or depressed or both, and all I wanted to do was take naps and eat food. So besides a long run on Sunday morning, that’s really about all I did this past weekend.

It’s Feelin’ Like Fall

(…except for the heat.)

This weekend left me with that rare sensation of true relaxation. Life has posed lots of ups and downs lately, so to be able to let go of the stress for a short while is quite the achievement, I’d say.

Here’s a little photo recap (of course, it’s mostly food).

My New Asics Running Shoes

My hands-down favorite running shoes: ASICS | The Real Life Blog | Running, fitness, food, exercise, foodie, intuitive eating, healthy

+ THE COLOR RUN!

Happy Thursday, folks! My new Asics came in the mail this week, and I absolutely love them. I trained for and ran my first half marathon in Asics, and a few more, and then veered off course with Brooks and Mizunos—learning all too well that Asics are (for now) the only running shoes for me.

What will I do with my old, beat-up Asics, you ask? I’ll add a little life to them on August 27th at The Color Run Tropicolor Denver!

The Difference 30 Pounds Makes

Losing 30 pounds with intuitive eating and running | THE REAL LIFE Blog | fitness, exercise, health, running, half marathon, working out, healthy eating, intuitive eating

A DIFFERENT PERSON

This is a tough post to write. Vulnerability at its finest.

I want to revisit the me 30+ pounds ago, reflect upon how different I’ve become, and remember why the weight loss means more to me than just a pretty picture.

DISCLAIMER: I am now recovering from a restrictive eating disorder… and now that the fog has lifted, that photo of me on the right is terrifying. I now look much like the girl on the left again, and I couldn’t be happier. Read all about my recovery here and here, and then read on with caution.

A Cheese Plate to Envy

Cheese plate

+ BREAD + WINE

This past Friday, I left the office at 2pm (summer hours are the best) and met up with the man—Nick’s his name—for an easy 3.5-mile run in City Park to round out the long-yet-crazily-productive week before our food-centric Date Night at Home.

This time around, we planned a cheese, freshly baked bread, and wine feast. After leaving the bread to rise, getting our workout in, and picking up some cheesy goodness from Sprouts, we headed home to quickly shower before indulging in deliciousness.

BUT FIRST: A BAD DAY

Yesterday was one of those days where it feels like the world is caving in on you—where anxiety and worry take over and keep you from remembering that the Universe always has your back.

To turn things around, enter: decompressing, an easy 7-mile run, and the best effing pizza you’ve ever tasted.
