This past Sunday, after a good play session with the pup, I headed to Orangetheory Wash Park to finally try the trendy fitness class after a long period of curiosity. I will admit: I was nervous!

The Importance of Taste

Just one of our decadent breakfasts this week
We Eat So Well
…and I want to talk about it.
After three or four days of consuming whatever the heck we fancied in Crested Butte—including an assortment of things we don’t usually eat, like ice cream and a bucket of fried chicken—it’s been nice to return to our whole foods-centric lifestyle.
One of my favorite things (there are many) about Nick is his passion for making delicious meals from whole, organic, and nutritious ingredients. He’s really made a believer out of me.
A Weekend Chock-Full of New Things
Running & Eating & Reading, Oh My!
Happy Monday, friends!
I know what you’re thinking: new things, Vanessa? running, eating, reading? That’s basically all you do. And you’re right, but this past weekend was dedicated to mixing things up when it comes to half marathon training, upping my mileage, meal prepping, and eating well.
Here’s a plethora of weekend snapshots that won’t look like my same old photo updates.
A Dreamy Run Down Rodeo Drive
Palm Trees, Galore
On my second morning waking up in the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, my publisher and I went for a sunrise run down the famous Rodeo Drive.
The road (and shopping mecca) was kind of deserted at that hour, making it that much more surreal and wonderful. Check out these gorgeous photos!
Daily Diet: What I Eat in a Day
Looking to Maintain
After some weird weeks and a significant decrease in my running mileage, I was worried I might gain weight this month (maintaining a 30-pound weight loss is still relatively new territory for me). I also have been careful not to restrict myself too much, as I’ve been reading about Reverse Dieting and making sure my metabolism is running strong.
Anyway, this Daily Diet reflects a typical workday of eating real foods and enjoying every bite. Also: I have maintained this month and hope to get back to running lots of miles consistently soon.
Race Recap: The Color Run Denver
HAPPIEST 5K?
I’ve only ever run half marathons, 15ks, and 10ks (you can see my race log here). I’ve never run a 5k, particularly because they’re over in a flash after having dished out the registration fee, gotten up early, parked and braved the crowds, etc., so when I got the opportunity to try out The Color Run Denver, I jumped at the chance!
Here’s a recap.
Weekend Snapshots

A Spin on a Smitten Kitchen Pizza
WHEN IN DOUBT…
…add garlic!
We’ve been obsessed with our Smitten Kitchen cookbook as of late. On Tuesday night, we decided to test her Shaved Asparagus Pizza recipe. But we couldn’t help but improve upon it…
A Smooth Way to Start the Day
DESSERT FOR BREAKFAST
This post is going to be short and sweet. Very sweet. Here, a recipe for a Banana Date Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter smoothie.
And it’s healthy. You’re welcome!

Daily Diet: What I Eat in a Day
GOOD MORNING, FOLKS!
I thought I’d document what I eat in a day every once in a while! These will be fun snapshots of daily diets, especially since the way my days look can vary greatly. Who doesn’t like being a fly on the wall to what people eat in a day? It’s like curiously peering into the refrigerator when you’re babysitting.
Anyway, here’s how I started the week yesterday (Monday).
