This past Friday, I left the office at 2pm (summer hours are the best) and met up with the man—Nick’s his name—for an easy 3.5-mile run in City Park to round out the long-yet-crazily-productive week before our food-centric Date Night at Home.

This time around, we planned a cheese, freshly baked bread, and wine feast. After leaving the bread to rise, getting our workout in, and picking up some cheesy goodness from Sprouts, we headed home to quickly shower before indulging in deliciousness.

I think it’s safe to say I eat well. But you haven’t seen half of it, because it’s been a busy past few weeks here at The Real Life:

  • working a full-time job, and it’s event season!
  • spending a week in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
  • training for and then running the Colfax Half Marathon
  • going to ~20 hours of Grease rehearsal a week
  • trying to blog regularly
  • …and maintaining a healthy life balance… or something like it.

RUNNING = HUNGER

Happy Monday, loves!

It’s less than 2 weeks until the Colfax Half Marathon. I’ve been running a lot of miles. To give you an idea of how much my training has escalated, my mileage goal for the month of January was 38 miles. My mileage goal for April was 60… and I ended up running 78.

78 effing miles, folks. Do you know what that means?

It means I’m hungry—ravenous. So let’s feast our eyes on this food porn together.

A SNACK TO FANTASIZE ABOUT

This past Saturday, I had my 10-mile long run scheduled… except, after a beautiful 70-degree week, Denver got hit with a ton of wet snow. Boo.

Instead of running laps in beautiful Wash Park, I was stuck in the gym. On the treadmill. Running 10 miles. The. worst.

I decided that I needed something warm and delicious to motivate me to finish strong. A zucchini bread recipe was the obvious choice. Check out James Beard’s recipe below!
