Hi again, friends!
The Man and I have a lot of fun things on the horizon, and I thought I’d share some of them here with you since it’s been a hot minute.
The ART, a Hotel
The ART Hotel is a super-cool Denver staycation that’s filled with contemporary art and sits adjacent to the Denver Art Museum. We stayed there for my 30th birthday and recently were invited to visit again for dinner, a stay in their Mountain View Suite, and brunch the following morning. I wasn’t going to pass that up!
Happy Hour drinks were on point! It’s always fun to do something a little like this with The Man. He makes every day fun, so when we get an opportunity to have a special occasion, we really have a great time.
This crab dip with crostini was amazing.
Beef, polenta, and veggies.
The FIRE Burger was outstanding! I think it might be the best burger I’ve had in a while.
Brunch the next morning consisted of a Crab Cake Eggs Benedict…
And this Banana Cream Fresh Toast! The toast was actually thick banana bread with dollops of banana cream on top. It was the most decadent thing of my whole life. I could only eat two pieces.
The stay was a welcome reprieve from our everyday routine, and we really got to dine on some exquisite food. Anyone thinking about visiting the FIRE Lounge for dinner or drinks on their patio, I highly recommend it! As luck would have it, someone else got to go on a little staycation that night… Harps stayed at City Bark for one evening and came back hungover on puppy play time. 🙂
Wedding Planning
The big day is about four months away, and so far we’ve been pretty good about getting the details squared away. And to be honest, there aren’t much details… we wanted a simple, inexpensive wedding that is all about good food and good company. Last month, we go to do a tasting for our wedding menu with Footers Catering, so brace yourself for one more food pic!
We will definitely be including this gourmet cheese display during our cocktail hour. Yum!
Note: Planning a wedding when it’s your second time down the aisle in a mixed bag of emotions. It’s been incredibly difficult trying to explain to friends and family that, while I cannot wait to be married to the best person I’ve ever known, I’m less than thrilled about going through some of the rituals all over again. Doing a second bachelorette party or bridal shower feels very weird to me, but the more I read and talk to people about it, the more I’ve come to realize that this is a typical feeling for people who are remarrying.
We’re Under Contract!
The most exciting thing happening in our lives at the moment is that we’re under contract on a house in Lakewood! It’s a 3-bed, 2-bath 1960s brick ranch with a Narnia-like fence leading to a greenway that runs behind the houses and connects to multiple parks. Swoon! If everything goes well, we’ll close on June 1. Cross your fingers!
Here’s a pick of the garden where we’ll grow some veggies, hopefully. 🙂 I’m sure Harper will attempt to tear up the entire yard, but at least she’ll have one!
New Headshots
When our art director Eleanor (who’s shooting our wedding!) announced she was going to take new headshots for the magazine, I signed right up because you can never have too many headshots for auditions and things. Here is my pale self in cobalt blue.
Cheers to the Weekend
Speaking of auditions and things, this was our first week of rehearsals for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! It’s going to be AMAZING. Seriously, the talent (and the music) is unreal. I’ve been either running or taking Harper on long walks (sometimes both) in the early mornings before work, and that + rehearsals means I’m super tired on this Friday evening. Here’s to some relaxation this weekend, maybe? 🙂
Congratulations on everything! The house looks great. I’m so excited for you and Nick. Very good choices on the salads for your dinner. Some of your guests may really appreciate the (GF) options. Thanks for the update:)
