This is going to sound weird and ridiculous, but it’s true. This Monday evening, when Nick and I were walking Harper before I had to head to rehearsal, we saw in our back alley that our dumpster was filled with stacks and stacks of clothes…
Someone was moving, and not doing it responsibly. They leaned a mattress and box spring against the dumpster. They decided to forego the Good Will on Broadway only a few blocks away and, instead, lay hangers of pristine clothing on top of other wasted goods: nice dining plates, tons of shoes and boots, and purses galore. We’d never seen anything like it. Not to mention: Who just wastes hangers like that?!

Aerie tights with cute cut-out holes on the calves
Out of curiosity I took a peek at the clothes and realized they were predominantly long-sleeve and cold-whether workout tops, something I have been in need of. There were also numerous leggings from Aerie, perfect for a workout or even just being a couch potato (activewear serves both of these purposes ironically well). Everything was in my size and looked like it had never been worn before!

This is perfect for colder weather runs!
So who has two thumbs and ended up with clothes draped over both arms so high that she could barely see over them as she climbed the stairs to her apartment? This girl. Absolutely no shame. I will dumpster dive for heaps of free workout gear, no questions asked!

I like girls who wear Abercrombie & Fitch…
When I got home from rehearsal late that night, I saw more clothes, this time perched on top of the mattress. Upon inspection I found a handful of cute little jackets—some suede and others a fake leather. I scooped those up, too, and will test them out come fall (which couldn’t come soon enough)!
We washed everything, of course, just to cover all bases. I mean, I’m always looking for a deal… but this is a new level of “thrifty clothes shopping” for me!
Take a look at the rest, below:

Aerie leggings—there were THREE pairs of black in the lot

A fleece pullover, albeit blurry. Whoops!

Complete with thumb holes!

I love this Avalanche Wear hoodie!

Hollister. The fringe makes me hesitant… but I might give it a try!

This is the same fringe jacket but in black! This girl had a spending problem, me thinks. (I’m also wearing one of the black pairs of Aerie leggings.)

H&M. Cute little sporty “leather” jacket #1

and #2
This might make for some interesting outfit breakdowns come autumn.
“Leather jacket, Dumpster”
But beggars dumpster-divers can’t be choosers. Wouldn’t you have done the same thing?
Love it!!! This is so awesome!!!!

It definitely feels like treasure! Especially with the cold-weather workout tops. I’d been preparing to spend a significant amount on similar things, so done and done!
