A New Bag, Speed Workout, & Old Lady Status

The Mahi Leather Cornell Bag

It’s here! The vintage leather messenger bag/satchel has arrived, and I’m in love. You can tell by the following photo shoot I took with it. Then I did 4.5 miles of fartleks at the park, with steak and wine in my belly from a work lunch event. I never learn.

You’re welcome.

I looooooooove it!

The versatility is what I love most; it comes with a messenger bag strap function for a more sporty look or just better functionality while traveling. The purse strap is big enough to go over my shoulder—I hate having to carry purses in my hand or around my wrist when I’m in a hurry. Okay, enough about this bag! I’m just very happy with checking this item off of my Summer Wish List!

Here’s my face, instead:

Lying on the bed

Yesterday, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles presented our 2017 Circle of Excellence Awards at Coohills Denver. The event was very laid back and went well—and I ate all the things: salad, bread and butter, steak, cod, cheesy potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and multiple desserts… with a heavy pour or two of wine. I did all of this knowing I was going to run after work. What is wrong with me?

It took a lot of mental pep-talking to lace up and head to the park with the man, with fartleks in mind. We ran the first mile at a very easy pace, then sprinkled 6 Maximum-Perceived-Effort sprints between the remaining 3.5 miles (at 30 seconds each). My stomach was a wreck (even 5 hours after lunch!), but I did it and ended up feeling great. My quads felt good and used, if that makes sense.

Lash Boost rodan fields

I was back on the bed after our run, and decided you needed to see my face up close and personal again. This is my very sophisticated way of showing you just how well Rodan+Fields Lash Boost has been working with my eyelashes. I do not (and will not) sell that stuff! I don’t even know why I went out on a limb to try Lash Boost… but it works. (Weird fish face side effects, though, apparently.)

Instagram story

After sharing my bad decisions with the world of Instagram, I finally showered and took a few bites of Nick’s dinner before deciding I was still full and didn’t want to eat anything else. I don’t think I’m a natural born steak-eater. I was out like a light at 9:00 and then woke up this morning at 5:30, ready to inhale a good breakfast, sip coffee, read, and wake up slowly. Old lady status achieved (or… confirmed since birth).

Happy Wednesday!

P.S. I have my first voice lesson in like… 4 years this evening! Wish me luck!

Haha, yes! It’s a very unfortunately spelled/pronounced Swedish word that’s been adapted into the running community. Here’s the official definition: “a system of training for distance runners in which the terrain and pace are continually varied to eliminate boredom and enhance psychological aspects of conditioning.” The more you know! 😉

Old lady status? I would say, “Bitch, please,” like they do in the Facebook memes, but that seems rude. Instead I will say, “Amateur!” speaking as a true old lady (full disclosure: more old than lady). I am glad to hear you waited a few hours to run after your awesome meal; I was worried there for a minute. Good for you for doing it! I need to add some fartlek stuff to my running (however you spell it; I only heard the sergeants say it in the army), and start running more often. Maybe if I had steak and wine for lunch. It’s worth a try!
