Outfits (and Updates) of the Week!

This week has absolutely flown by, as I’ve been recovering from surgery and both Nick and I have been fending off a sneaky cold, so I’m looking forward to the weekend!

The gist of this week: no running allowed, a great voice lesson, lots of delicious meals, colder weather, and some extra rest. Take a look at outfits + little snippets of things.

Dinner at Annette in The Stanley Marketplace

Annette Scratch to Table restaurant in Stanley Marketplace

Scratch to Table

On the night before surgery and all through the house, I decided to get out of the house and tag along to dinner with my editor and her husband at Annette, a “scratch to table” restaurant out in the Stanley Marketplace.

The design is fresh, the service was outstanding, and the food was on point. Take a look.

Platte River Half Race Photos!

Platte River Half Marathon

Good, unflattering, & hilarious

I was a little frustrated with the Platte River Half Marathon official race photo situation this year. Their photographer was only offering prints for purchase; there was no digital option. But then I politely emailed him about it, and he sent me these for free.

Here you’ll see just how in shape Nick is: He smiles and waves throughout the run while I grimace and grumble. It’s pretty funny, actually.

Got Through a Scary Medical Procedure

Donuts Helped

I’m back! I took a few days off of blogging because I do this for fun, but I’d felt a bit overwhelmed this past week. I was stressed and feeling anxiety about my LEEP procedure on Friday, but turns out, it was a piece of cake (followed by real post-surgery sugaryness).

Here are my thoughts on the experience and a photo recap of the weekend.

Puppy Fever!

Lord help me. You guysssss. I can’t shake my puppy needs lately. I know, in due time, I’ll finally have the cuddly, fuzzy, sweet little puppy ears to kiss and snuggle. And I promise I’m being patient and rational. But… I need a little retriever puppy, like yesterday, so in the meantime I’m taking you all down with me!

Behold the cuteness.

(Okay, so the pup we end up adopting doesn’t need to be a particular breed or color, but at the moment, I’m all about goldens or retrievers in general.)

Easter Weekend Snapshots

Happy Monday! I am still in a sleepy daze this morning, but I am fully prepared to share a ton of fun photos from this weekend, which include a new book and salt scrub, a sneak peek of Platte River Half race photos, a hard-yet-short speed workout, and a 10-mile Easter Sunday trail run with gorgeous views.

TGIF

Happy Friday, friends! Although it feels like this week put me through the ringer… I feel like it exhausted me in the best way.

It was a great week at work, I got three solid runs in before my weekend workouts, and I had my first voice lesson in a long time!

A New Bag, Speed Workout, & Old Lady Status

New Mahi Leather bag Cornell

The Mahi Leather Cornell Bag

It’s here! The vintage leather messenger bag/satchel has arrived, and I’m in love. You can tell by the following photo shoot I took with it. Then I did 4.5 miles of fartleks at the park, with steak and wine in my belly from a work lunch event. I never learn.

You’re welcome.

Those Quesadillas, Tho’

Butternut squash, black bean, and red onion quesadilla with greek yogurt sour cream

YOU GUYS.

I am here to present you with the most delicious, healthy, vegetarian meal I’ve had in a while. The kind where you feel like you’re scarfing down naughty late-night junk food, but in fact somehow you’ve fooled yourself and you’re getting loads of healthy things instead. (Okay, minus the cheese, but cheese is healthy for the soul, and we really didn’t use much at all.)

Race Weekend Snapshots

Our First Race Together

This was my 6th half marathon and Nick’s 2nd (he leap-frogged into a full marathon and then ultra distances). I’ve never run alongside someone for the entire duration of a race, so this was a cool experience.

Here’s a breakdown of the weekend, and the race: how it felt, what went well, what didn’t, and whether or not I’d run the Platte River Half Marathon again.
