Feeling Lucky
Yesterday was a pretty good day, as they usually tend to be after I let all my emotions out. I really appreciated all the comments and love on yesterday’s post! You guys are awesome.
It was a productive day at work, followed by a quick happy hour at Hacienda Colorado (where I did not eat a burrito) and a treadmill interval workout. I also decided to try this new collagen supplement trend. And I won a free 3-month subscription to the Book of the Month Club!
This was the grand total of workout planning I did on Wednesday, jotted down at work. To follow up my 4.5 easy (and burrito-filled) miles on Tuesday, I did 2.4 miles of my treadmill interval workout, adjusted for my current fitness level. I have to admit, the sprints were really challenging. I ended up not quite hitting 8.6 mph for each sprint minute.
I think a lot of it was mental, as my mind has been exhausted lately. There were also some pretty obnoxious people at the gym, which challenged my focus. But I got three sets of these bad boys under my belt and went back home sweaty and hungry.
For dinner I enjoyed some leftover Mixed Mushroom & Spinach Lasagna (looks unappetizing because I heated it over the stove, but I assure you, it was divine) while flipping through this mindful magazine. It offered some interesting gems, but at that point I was over thinking about mindfulness.
After seeing multiple people share their positive experiences with collagen hydrolysate, I went back to a post I’d seen by Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers (see it here) and read up on the supplement. I’m intrigued by this stuff (especially the fact that you can pop it in your coffee or smoothie and it has no taste), so I ordered a canister. We’ll see if it helps with skin/nails/hair as well as joints and digestion. Has anyone else tried it?
Book of the Month Club:
Last but not least, I ordered my first book from my 3-month Book of the Month Club subscription! It’s like Stitch Fix for books! Except you keep the book forever… and I don’t have to pay a dime since I won the subscription in an Instagram giveaway. I’m so excited!
The book I ordered is Exit West by Mohsin Hamid. Here’s the description from Google Books:
In a city swollen by refugees but still mostly at peace, or at least not yet openly at war, Saeed and Nadia share a cup of coffee, and their story begins. It will be a love story but also a story about war and a world in crisis, about how we live now and how we might live tomorrow. Before too long, the time will come for Nadia and Saeed to leave their homeland. When the streets are no longer useable and all options are exhausted, this young couple will join the great outpouring of those fleeing a collapsing city, hoping against hope, looking for their place in the world.
I can’t wait. Has anyone read it?
I’ve been absolutely dying to try that collagen supplement after Julie’s post too! Please let us know your thoughts when you try it.

I definitely will! I’m guessing I need to give it at least a month or so.
