IN THE GROOVE
Things are getting serious with my schedule as we approach the last few weeks of Grease rehearsals before opening. I’m doing my best to take each day in stride, and to not let the future overwhelm me.
It may sound silly or trite, but sometimes focusing on how I can look my best and do my best (with work, running, eating healthy, performing) each day gets me to stop trying to figure it all out. I’m focusing on each day as it comes, with all my energy.
FRIDAY, JUNE 17
Ready for the weekend, I grabbed this long flowy black maxi dress and added some subtle visual interest with one of my new bralettes! I’m new to the concept, but I’m loving it (when done right).
- black dress, Forever 21
- black bralette, American Eagle (60% off!)
- wedges, hand-me-downs
- scantily “made” bed: courtesy of It’s Friday.
Here you can better see the bralette detailing and how it peeks out behind the lace of the dress.
SATURDAY, JUNE 18
Saturday morning I was out the door early to get my hair cut and colored across town before rehearsal. I snapped a quick pic in the salon locker room.
- purple workout tank, Good Will
- palm frond running tights, REI
- new haircut! Aura Salon in Littleton
SUNDAY, JUNE 19
Sunday was Runday! The man and I got up early and did 10 miles in Wash Park + The Farmers’ Market!
- black workout shorts and sports bra, Walmart (read about them here)
- headband, Vero Brava (I’m loving these hand bands so far!)
After that and a shower, it was casual wear for making Wine Slushies and Blackberry Ricotta Pizza + Basil!
- green striped T, Target (so, so old)
- cutoff shorts, Abercrombie & Fitch (they had a giant shorts sale)
MONDAY, JUNE 20
Monday, I was ready to get to work. Unfortunately the office was 1,000 degrees since they’d shut off the A/C for the weekend. Pants and booties weren’t the best choice.
- green skinny jeans, Gap
- royal blue blouse, Kohl’s
- beige booties, Target
- statement necklace, Walmart
TUESDAY, JUNE 21
First day of Summer calls for a fun dress. Also, I learned my lesson and was boycotting pants and socks and anything warm.
- dress, Gap
- sandals, Ross
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22
We’ve seen this staple many times before on The Real Life. I wear it all the time. It was wrinkly. I was tired. It happened.
- striped dress, Ross
- black flats, Ross
THURSDAY, JUNE 23
I had an early-morning meeting on Thursday, so I wanted to go a tad dressier. This dress is a few sizes too big, but a black sash from another dress helped cinch the waist.
(Update: Orchid is still flowerless. Any tips on that?)
- leopard print dress, Kohl’s
- black sash, from a Target dress that was 10+ years old
- wedges, hand-me-downs
- gold cuff bracelet, Italian heirloom (Hi Mom, this is from aunt Mary, no?)
I haven’t been including my workout attire for Grease rehearsals, and honestly, you’d probably get bored of it if I showed you. Every night I’m in running shorts or tights and a tank. And dance shoes. And sweat and exhaustion.
WHICH OUTFIT’S YOUR FAVE?

I’d love to see the gold bracelet up close. It might be from an art show in PVB.
You look great in everything, as usual. I love the blue top, green jeans, and booties!
