A TASTE TEST
This past Saturday, the man and I visited Zengo Denver in Riverfront Park, to taste-test their new menu—just in time for spring and summer! It was the perfect date night.
I knew we were in for a delicious evening… on top of revisiting my favorite dishes from my first Zengo outing, we tried a handful of new menu items. Almost all of them were dynamite. Here’s a photo recap!
KUROMATSU-HAKUSHIKA SAKE
We started things off right with some delicious sake! We asked our waitress for her best dry-sake recommendation, and she suggested this rich, elegant, full-favored sake from Nishinomiya, Japan.
XO EDAMAME
The man hadn’t been to Zengo before, so I had to give him the full treatment. That meant the Edamame with the sweet & spicy XO sauce!

ANGRY ZENGO ROLL
It also meant moving on to the tried and true Angry Zengo Roll (spicy tuna, avocado, chipotle aioli, and cucumber)! Fresh, a good amount of spice, and oh-so-delicious.
ASIAN PEAR SALAD
This was the man’s choice, and boy, was it a good one! Whipped goat cheese, mixed lettuces, candied pecans, red onion, and an umeboshi vinaigrette. Just what the doctor ordered after an especially carb-filled, post-race celebration week!
CHARRED TUNA WONTON TACOS
(How cute are these?) They usually come in sets of 3, but we asked for just one more to even things out. They were tasty—especially the wonton shell—but there was barely any tuna inside!
CHIPOTLE MISO GLAZED BLACK COD
Next came the Chipotle Miso Glazed Black Cod! We were trying to decided between this dish and their Short Rib Udon Noodle, but when the diner next to us urged us to try the cod, we followed suit. It was buttery, cooked just right, and absolutely delicious with its sauce, rice, and asparagus counterparts. Such a great meal!

MEXICAN BAR
To top off the gluttonous evening, we split the Mexican Bar dessert because … one does not need a reason. It was divine, just like last time!
The edamame and tacos look heavenly!!

Mmm, the edamame was delicious, especially tossed in that sauce! Thanks for chiming in! 🙂

Was it a gluttonous evening or one with lots of gluten? LOL That’s what you get when your reader has been a copy-editor! I want the cod, btw!!

That’s hilarious! I even Googled it because it didn’t look right, but I didn’t actually notice that it was spelled correctly but for an entirely different meaning! D’OH! That’s what I get for blogging before I’m fully caffeinated… 🙂
Changing it now, but leaving this comment exchange here so people know I’m a dummy! 🙂
