FANCY, FRUMPY, & ALL
I’ve decided to post each week’s outfits in one “OOTW” (Outfits of the Week) post every Friday. The catch is that not all outfits are created equal.
I’ll include fitness outfits from my long-run weekends, as well as schleppy long-night-of-rehearsal outfits. This fits right in with The Real Life philosophy of not trying to appear perfect all the time. Enjoy round 1, and tell me what you think!
FRIDAY, APRIL 22nd
Comfy—with a little bohemian flare—and ready for a productive Friday!
- ripped jeans, Gap
- royal blue peasant top, Kohls
- off-white flats, Target
SATURDAY, APRIL 23rd
Here we have “A Runner’s Take on Dancewear” for a 5-hour choreography session.
- patterned running tights, REI
- Danskin sports bra, Walmart (see more about this here)
- simple black tank top, Target
- Asics running shoes, Kohls (on discount!)
SUNDAY, APRIL 24th
Ready to run 11 miles! (The dog is giving me the “Really, Mom?”)
- Nike running T, REI (sale rack)
- pink Danskin running shorts, Walmart (see more about this here)
- non-slip headband, Target (I love this!)
MONDAY, APRIL 25th
Okay, I concede that this outfit is cute, but in reality: I still had loads and loads of laundry left unwashed… so I went for a clean dress hanging in my closet. Thank goodness for good weather!
- striped dress, Ross ($10!)
- green army jacket, H&M
- Kenneth Cole wedges, hand-me-downs from Mom
TUESDAY, APRIL 26th
Maybe we’ll call this the “Relish & Mustard” look? Still, laundry hadn’t gotten done (see the pile below)! I somehow managed to put something together:
- forest green skinnies, Gap
- flowy black tank, Target
- mustard-yellow crochet sweater, H&M
- Crown Vintage black booties, DSW
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27th
We will call this look the “Not Into It.” At this point, one load of laundry made it into the washer, but that’s as far as it got. The orchid is dying. Those jeans are from 2012. It was 40 degrees, but I didn’t want to wear a jacket. Just, not into it.
- Blouse + Vest, from my 2nd Stitch Fix experience
- Curvy jeans, Gap (old and not cute)
- Strappy flats, Ross
- Earrings that I got at a shop in Washington DC circa 2006:
THURSDAY, APRIL 28th
I had an early-morning meeting to attend, it was snowing (Where is summer?), and I was running late (and changed multiple times). This is what I finally went with:
- black skinnies, Gap
- gray tank, Gap (I love the versatility of this top! I dressed it down to a Rockies game recently.)
- salmon cardigan, Target
- Crown Vintage black booties, DSW
- black & white statement necklace, Walmart
I’d be willing to bet that a this whole ensemble cost me less than $100. The Gap jeans and top were bought with their Gap Cash discount promotion, and the cashier rung up two coupons in what I was sure was the wrong manner, because I had a heap of clothes for a total of only $29. She said that it was already final, and I wasn’t going to complain. I love when things like that happen!
So there you have it: The first Outfits of the Week installment!
THOUGHTS?
Haha! ‘The orchid is dying’. Don’t try to divert our attention! I actually happen to like all of your outfits. And don’t you love it when your doggy is there to mentally support you?:D

Love the April 26th outfit! All the outfits are cute, but that one is my favorite. Thanks for stopping by Gal Pal Magazine.

Okay – I’m old, so not with it in terms of current fashion . . . but I am wondering what the attraction is for ripped jeans????? It seems like such a paradox to “fashion”. Help an ol’ lady out here, please! ;->
Virtual hugs,

I can’t put my finger on it! I think it’s got a “tough chick” aspect, but who knows. I admit, I love them! 😉
